Celebrant
Officiant
At Pine Box Funerals, we believe that ceremonies matter. They help us pause, gather, and honour the people we love. Along with the services we provide directly, we also work with a small circle of trusted local celebrants who share our values and approach.
What celebrants do:
Celebrants, or officiants, help families host funerals, memorials, celebrations of life, and other remembrance gatherings. These can take place anywhere—at home, outdoors, in a community space, or any location that feels meaningful.
Every ceremony is shaped around your family’s needs. Some people want religious elements included, while others prefer something entirely secular. Both are welcomed and supported.
Why ceremony helps:
Like many rites of passage, there is often a moment of acknowledgment before we move into sharing stories and remembering a life. A celebrant helps hold that moment with care. They offer structure when things feel overwhelming, and create a steady, respectful space for you, your family, and the person who has died.
A ceremony may include nature-based elements, readings or poetry, music, keepsakes, eulogies or personal tributes, and participation from family and friends. Celebrants also manage the flow, handle last-minute changes, and take on the role of MC so you don’t have to think about logistics on the day.
