Support for Families Choosing MAID
Pine Box Funeral Home
The choice to proceed with Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) is one of the most personal decisions someone can make. It can bring peace, relief, sadness, or a mix of all three. However it feels for you, we’re here to hold space, listen, and help carry the practical side of things with care.
.
Space to Be Together
After a loved one has passed, many families want quiet time before calling us. Others feel ready right away. Both are okay. There’s no “right” timeline, only the one that feels right for you.
Because MAID plans can change at the last minute, we won’t add pressure by being “on stand-by”, Instead, we’re here as soon as you’re ready, so the timing stays in your hands.
Reaching Us
When the time comes, just call our main number (780-910-6432). That way you’ll always reach someone.
Bringing Your Loved One Into Our Care
If the MAID procedure happens at home, we’ll usually arrive within a couple of hours once you’ve called.
If it happens in a hospital, hospice, or care residence, families still need to notify us — but from there, we’ll coordinate respectfully with staff and ensure everything moves smoothly.
What Happens Next:
Even if you’ve pre-arranged services, we’ll still meet to finalize the details. That time together ensures the paperwork is taken care of, but it also gives us a chance to talk through what matters most to your family — so the farewell feels personal and true.
Planning Ahead
The only part that can happen before death is sitting down with one of our funeral directors. Doing this early takes pressure off later and gives you a clear, calm plan for when the time comes
Our Promise
At Pine Box Funerals, we believe every goodbye should be rooted in compassion, dignity, and authenticity. MAID is a deeply personal choice, and we’re honoured to walk alongside families through it.
You don’t have to do this alone. When you’re ready, we’re here
