Beverley Ann Turner (née Hewitson)
November 12, 1957 - April 3, 2026
Beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend — Bev passed from this world on April 3rd at the age of 68. Rather than mourn what was lost, we celebrate a life fully and joyfully lived. A life that touched all who were lucky enough to be near it.
Bev had a big heart, and had a deep desire to help others. Beverley was the most generous and thoughtful spirit anyone could have met.
Born November 12, 1957 in Middlesbrough, England, Bev was educated at St Mary’s Sixth Form College before eventually making her home in Strathcona County, Alberta, Canada. Her callings in Life were as a Child Educator and a Cook.
Bev had many passions in life, but none so much as caring for young children. This was a common theme throughout her life. She would often reach out to families in need whether through charitable works, or lending an ear. Bev, also known as “Nanna” had a deep and unconditional love for her grandchildren. She expressed to anyone who would listen that they were “the light of her life.”
Beverley also had a love for the finer things like a good meal, British chocolate, cheese, or rock candy. Laughing was just as important as loving, and she truly appreciated a “cheeky” joke between friends. She had a way of calling everyone “sweetie,” a small but meaningful expression of the kindness she carried in her heart.
Bev had a gift for story-telling and make-believe play. Children loved to hear her special tales and the way she interacted made the stories come alive. Puppet shows were a favorite.
Christmas was always a special time for Bev, and she started preparing months in advance. Those who knew her will remember her decadent Christmas Cakes. These were carefully planned and started in the late fall. Plump raisins and nuts were folded into a rich batter, and then wrapped and stored to deepen the flavors over the coming weeks before being given as a gift. If you were lucky enough to try Bev’s shortbread or mince pies; you’d agree that she had a passion and talent for delicious baking.
Beverley is survived by her loving husband Richard, children: Tanya (Curtis) and Carol (Brandon), grandchildren: Henri, Emma and Lila, sister: Debra (Anthony) and niece Emma-Louise. She is preceded in death by her parents: Patricia and Norman, along with special aunts, grandparents and extended family members.
Beverley was a kind and generous soul who never lost her sense of wonder. She had a way of making others feel cared for, seen, and supported. MIZPAH
